Midnight Sun
In Harstad and the surrounding region, we can see the Midnight Sun from around May 22 to around July 18, so the sun is up for more than 1600 hours..!
The endless light makes gives us energy and joy of life. Mountain hikes, night fishing and concerts tempt us to stay up, and you're welcome to join us.

A place in the sun
The Arctic Circle is the border for the Midnight Sun and Polar Night. The further north you venture, the longer these majestic periods last. Here in the north, we have beautiful, light nights during the summer months.
Many places in Harstad and the surrounding region have unimpeded views towards the north, so when the weather is fine you will see the Midnight Sun at night. In most circumstances, it’s only a short distance to a sunny spot.
One option is making the trip to Nupen in Kvæfjord, which in 2009 was chosen as Norway’s most romantic place to see the Midnight Sun..!
