Facing the Midnight Sun, the road from Breistrand in the south winds its way through a host of beautiful and exciting villages on its way to Evenskjer, where it follows sheltered bays and green pastures through a vibrant coastal heritage environment.

Here, you may taste traditional food based on local produce, or you can take an enjoyable boat trip, either under sail or engine power. There are many marked trails in beautiful and captivating terrain. The nature is majestic and varied, ranging from inland mountain landscape to coastal landscape. There are also rich natural resources with opportunities for sea fishing from land or boat, as well as freshwater fishing in rivers and lakes.

The municipality has Sami settlement and is rich in Sami and Norwegian history, culture and tradition. Skånland, situated on the mainland by Tjeldsundet, is the Gateway to the island of Hinnøya and Lofoten.
